Malcolm Ellis BVetMed MRCVS
Qualified in 1998 from the Royal Veterinary College, London. He worked in mixed-animal practice in Bath for 4yrs before furthering his interest in small animal work at the Hale Veterinary Group. He became a Partner in 2005 and is now Small Animal Clinical Director working from the Chippenham and Calne surgeries. His veterinary interests include endoscopy, abdominal ultrasound and all aspects of surgery. Outside work he follows the ups and downs of Manchester Utd, tries his best at playing golf and snooker and is a fan of F1 racing.
Alison Sullivan BVetMed MRCVS
Qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 1992 and came to the Hale Veterinary Group as a new graduate. She spends her time split between the Calne and Chippenham surgeries. Her veterinary interests are general small animal medicine and cardiology. She is a keen golfer and better than she would have you believe!
Jonathan ‘Jack’ Russell BVSc Cert AVP MRCVS
Joined the Hale Veterinary Group after qualifying from University of Bristol in 2002. He has a strong medical bias and particularly enjoys diagnostic ultrasound and radiography. He is a RCVS registered Advanced Practitioner. He became Small Animal Clinical Director in 2018.
Tina Scudder BVSc GPCert(SAS) MRCVS
Qualified in 2000 from The University of Liverpool. Tina joined the Hale in January 2010 after 10 years working in a busy mixed practice in Devon. She holds a European certificate in small animal surgery. Her particular interests are pain management, small mammal/rabbit medicine and surgery. Out of work she spends her time hiking with her accident prone lurcher, or treading the boards with the local amateur drama groups.
Sophie Henry BVM&S MRCVS
After graduating with distinction from the University of Edinburgh, Sophie worked at a PDSA pet aid practice in the north of the country. She joined the team at Hale in early 2015 and is a dedicated member of the practice who spends a lot of time treating and caring for the inpatients in the Chippenham Hospital, as she has a particular interest in internal medicine, radiography and ultrasound.She is studying to become an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Internal Medicine which includes gastrointestinal, cardiorespiratory, urinary and blood based disorders. She also consults at the Chippenham surgery daily and takes pleasure in providing ongoing care for her patients and clients once they leave the hospital.
Outside of work Sophie enjoys playing netball for her club, practising yoga and trying to keep up with her border terrier in dog agility.
Sophia Gearing BVetMed MRCVS
Sophia qualified from Royal Veterinary College, London in 2013 and has worked in small animal practice ever since. She joined Hale in 2015, she likes all aspects of small animal practice but she has particular interest in soft tissue surgery and ophthalmology. She is currently studying towards a certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology and splits her time between the Chippenham Hospital and our Corsham branch.
Alison Barnshaw BVSc BSc MRCVS
Alison graduated from the University of Bristol and joined the practice in August 2016. She also gained a Zoology degree from the University of Manchester. Alison is mainly based at the Chippenham Hospital but also spends time at our three branches. She lives in Bristol and has a mischievous cat called Flash and a Border Collie called Magic.
Pamela Hawke BVMS MRCVS
Pam qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2007, she initially joined the Hale in 2015 as a locum and just couldn’t leave! She is interested in all aspects of veterinary medicine in all species, furry, feathery or scaly! Outside of work she enjoys tending to her growing menagerie of animals and getting out exploring the countryside whenever possible.
Nick Burden BVSc CertVOphthal MRCVS
Qualified at Bristol University in 1978 and joined the Hale Veterinary Group as a new graduate. He became a Partner in the practice in 1980 and gained a Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 1986. He retired from the partnership in 2013 but still works part time with his work split between general practice and BVA/KC ISDS work examining dogs for hereditary eye disease. Away from work he combines his interests in photography and ornithology.
Chrissy Roberts BA VetMB CertSAS MRCVS
RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery
Chrissy joined the Hale in 2016 to head the surgical team. She has wide experience in orthopaedic surgery including complex fractures, management of cranial cruciate ligament disease and investigation and treatment of difficult lameness. She also has wide experience in soft tissue surgery, with a particular interest in ENT surgery, wounds, oncologic and reconstructive surgery.
Chrissy qualified from Cambridge in 2004 and has focussed on small animal surgery ever since, obtaining her RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery in 2010. She began her career in South Wales where she met her husband (also a vet) and was then a lead surgeon at a large hospital in Gloucester for 9 years.
Lucy Hayes BVSc MRCVS
Qualified from Bristol University in 1996 and joined the Hale Veterinary Group in 1998 after a short time in mixed practice. She enjoys all aspects of small animal medicine but has particular interests in rabbit medicine, medical oncology and behavioural disorders. She now works part-time at the Melksham branch where she also sees behavioural referrals. Outside work she is a keen long distance runner and re-enacts the English Civil War in aid of charity. She is also devoted to her two cats ‘Chang’ and ‘Pippi’.
Sheila Hibbert BVetMed MRCVS
Qualified in 1981 from the Royal Veterinary College, London. She works part-time in the Corsham branch and at any of the surgeries when providing locum cover. She enjoys the challenges that general practice can bring and is particularly interested in feline medicine. She is owned by a Burmese cat and a Terrier called Ted. Her current aim is to improve her Italian speaking!
Lynsey Ellis BVetMed MRCVS
Lynsey graduated from RVC in 1998 and worked for 19yrs at the PDSA in Bristol before joining the Melksham team in 2017. As a result of her experience at the PDSA she loves all aspects of surgery.
Emma Sorrell VetMB MA MRCVS
Emma graduated from Cambridge University in 2004 and went into mixed practice with a focus on dairy herd health. Seven years ago she decided to come in from the cold and pursue her growing passion for small animal practice and particularly medicine. She joined the Hale Group in 2017 and mostly divides her time between Corsham, Chippenham and her wayward and emotionally demanding vegetable garden.
