The Nursing Team

The Hale Vet Group is especially proud of its nursing team, which is a key part of our veterinary care team. The nursing team run their own clinics, care for our hospitalised patients and assist with all surgical and medical procedures.

The team doesn’t just consist of qualified veterinary nurses, we also have student veterinary nurses, animal care assistants, kennel assistants and laboratory technicians.

Having a great nursing team helps ensure your pet is receiving the best care and attention they deserve. You can phone and speak to any of our nurses for advice about your pet.

Sarah Wyatt DipAVN (SA) DipHE RVN

Head Nurse based at the Chippenham hospital.

Sarah started working in veterinary practice in 2002 and qualified in 2005. Since qualifying she has worked in several first opinion practices within Wiltshire and Somerset. She is one of a limited number of veterinary nurses within the UK with a Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing. Her professional interests include anaesthesia and analgesia, caring for patients with life limited conditions and critical care as well as student nurse training. She is keen to promote the veterinary nursing profession and is currently a representative for the BVNA.

In her spare time she enjoys swimming, reading and looking after her small zoo of animals, which includes 2 dogs, 2 cats, 4 rabbits, 2 guinea pigs and a tortoise.

Maxine McFadzean RVN

Deputy Head Nurse based at Chippenham.

Maxine has been with the HVG since 1997. She spent many years working at the Corsham branch before leaving to start her family. Maxine works at the Chippenham hospital where she has a keen interest in emergency nursing, critical care and anaesthesia. She is the deputy head nurse and assists Sarah in the smooth running of the nursing team. Her free time is taken up with two young children and her lively cat Bolt!

Kate Tenniswood RVN

Senior Nurse based at our Corsham branch.

Kate is a registered VN with many years of experience and is based at our Corsham branch. Kate’s professional interests include all aspects of nursing with a special interest in nursing the geriatric feline. Her hobbies include walking in the country and keeping an eye on Lily and Stan, her two feline partners in crime!

Sarah Badcock RVN

Sarah qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2005 and joined the Hale Veterinary Group in 2006 where she worked as part of the Chippenham hospital team.

In her spare time, she is kept busy by her border terrier Hazel, who just loves long walks!

Nicole Archer-Fairley BSc (Hons) RVN

Nicole joined the Hale Veterinary Group in 2013 after graduating from Hartpury College, Gloucester with a BSc (Hons) in Veterinary Nursing Science. She enjoys all aspects of nursing, particularly caring for inpatients and emergency and critical care. Having recently graduated Nicole is now looking for the next challenge and is enjoying developing her skills and knowledge.

Out of work Nicole loves spending time with friends and family, reading, baking and also enjoys running and long walks.

Becky Mallard RVN

Senior Nurse based at our Melksham branch.

Becky started working for HVG in 2002 and became a qualified Veterinary Nurse in 2006. She has a passion for all aspects of nursing and has returned after a 5 years of being a full time mum. She is kept busy in her spare time by her 2 small children, JRT ‘Tats’ and her husband!

Lori Taylor RVN

Lori graduated from the University of the West of England Hartpury in 2015 and enjoys working in both the Hospital and Corsham branch as sole nurse. Her Yorkie, Hatti, keeps her busy; they both enjoy spending time at the seaside, having long country walks, pub lunches and socialising with family and friends.

Karen Ward RVN

Karen joined the Hale Veterinary Group as an experienced student veterinary nurse in 2000, and became qualified in 2002. She has always had a keen interest in all aspects of veterinary nursing including surgical and medical nursing, in recent years however, she has developed a very keen interest in preventative care, and animal behaviour. As a result of this, Karen now runs the very successful puppy playgroup and weight watchers club at the Chippenham hospital. Outside of work, she enjoys her very busy life with her 3 very active young sons! Karen also finds time to care for her cat and fish and JRT, Tallie!

Jade Thacker

Jade attended Lackham College where she achieved her Level 3 Diploma in Animal Management. She is now a qualified veterinary nurse after studying at Abbeydale Vetlink College. She really enjoys all aspects of nursing but particularly caring for all our in-patients.

Tara Alford RVN

Tara qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in 2011 and joined the Hale Veterinary Group in 2017. Over the years she has developed a keen interest in lecturing, anaesthesia and theatre work. In her spare time she enjoys walking her whippets.

Trainee Veterinary Nurses

The Hale Veterinary Group has an excellent record at helping to train veterinary nurses.

Aisha Mckenny

Aisha joined Hale in 2015, following completing several weeks work experience whilst at school. She started her Veterinary Nurse training in September 2015. Aisha enjoys supporting Nicole and Chrissy (Veterinary Surgeon) with the advanced soft tissue surgery and orthopaedics. In her spare time Aisha enjoys nothing more than spending time with her beloved horses; Chequers and Hardy.

Clare Jones

Clare is one of our student veterinary nurses currently studying hard to achieve the Diploma in Veterinary Nursing. In her spare time Clare enjoys walking her 3 dogs (2 Labradors and a pug), looking after her 3 cats and reading. Clare is a Harry Potter and Star Wars fan.

Sophie Bendle

Sophie joined the Hale Vet Group in 2011 as our kennel assistant. She particularly enjoys spending time with our inpatients and assisting our veterinary nurses in the wards.

In her spare time, she likes to spend time with her family and friends, and following her beloved Manchester United FC. At home she has 4 black and white cats, 2 of whom were strays that she has rehomed from the hospital.

Lauren Stickley

Lauren attended Lackham College and completed level 3 Animal Management and Care. She joined Hale as a kennel assistant in Dec 2017. She enjoys walking her 2 dogs Smudge and Marley.
