Nutritional assessment and advice

Good nutrition is the key to optimising health, welfare and productivity. We are able to assess the nutritional status of cows by assessing milk production and composition, body condition scoring, faecal sieve scoring to assess digestion and metabolic profiling (carried out through the Dairy Health and Productivity Service at the University of Edinburgh), and then offer advice on how to improve it.

Many farmers now employ independent nutritionists and we understand the need for a team approach in these cases.
