Herd health planning & disease control plan development

Traditionally herd health planning was considered to be a necessary evil required by the farm assurance schemes and carried out once a year just before the farm assurance visit was due.

At the Hale Veterinary Group we do not see herd health planning in this light. We believe that herd health planning is a dynamic and on-going process that goes hand-in-hand with herd health monitoring and should be updated as soon as problems arise.

To enable us to do this, we use “My Healthy Herd”, a new internet-based herd health planning and disease management programme. Farm assurance inspectors are more than happy to view the plan on your computer, but we can also provide you with a paper copy if you are not too keen on computers!

Modern-day farmers are becoming increasingly aware of the need to prevent diseases in their herds. We are able to develop farm-specific disease control plans for various diseases including Johne’s, Bovine Viral Diarrhoea and Neospora.
