The Hale Veterinary Group has had equine diagnostic facilities at Lackham College, Wiltshire, since 2002, which has enabled our equine team to offer a wide range of services, dedicated to provide the best care for your horses.
Most of our equipment is fully portable so if you are unable to get your horse to Lackham, we will come to you. This includes digital x-ray (for instant images), ultrasound, endoscopy and motorised dental equipment. Please note that to perform x-ray examinations, we will need a mains electrical supply (generators are rarely powerful enough).
The equine clinic at Lackham college is a purpose-built building which allows us to safely carry out a wide range of veterinary procedures, such as lameness investigations, dentistry and reproductive work. There is also stabling for any day patients and a box specially designed for Joint Measurement Board (JMB) height measurement certifications.
Outside there is a firm safe surface for lunging horses, a lane for trotting up and plenty of parking space for boxes or trailers. This enables us to perform lameness investigations which might be tricky at some yards, for example where there is little flat land or nowhere safe to lunge a horse on a firm surface, essential for subtle lameness or “loss of action” type problems.
Should your horse need to stay with us for the day or longer, we have spacious modern stabling to ensure his comfort.
We have secure stocks with a padded head press, to allow a variety of procedures, including dental work, mare breeding examinations, colic examinations, lameness work ups to be carried out safely for both clinician and horse. We can even offer the facility for rent for you to safely clip any difficult horses!
